From the back cover...
Becky Bloomwood has a fabulous flat in London's trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season's must-haves. The only trouble is that she can't actually afford it -- not any of it.
USA Today-- Hilarious...hijinks worthy of classic I Love Lucy episodes.

Several people I know have recommended this series, so I finally decided to try it. I actually really enjoyed it. It was hilarious- laugh out loud funny. The main character is so hilarious and likable. Anyone who has had even a slight shopping problem needs to read it.
Disclaimer: I give this book a pg-13 rating. It is clean except for, unfortunately, a sprinkling of really bad swear words. I think the british like the 'f' word a little too much. So if you can ignore the handful of swear words, it is a good read.

i haven't read any of the series but just started "shopaholic takes manhattan" and so far am really loving how easy it is to read & how much fun it is! then i think i'll go back and start over at the beginning of the series.
I have another suggestion for you. You might really like the novel "Enlightenment for Idiots" by Anne Cushman. It's a book of the chick-lit variety, but also explores a deeper, more spiritual side of life. "Enlightment for Idiots" revolves around the life of Amanda, a twenty-nine year old yoga instructor and freelance writer who gets assigned to write a "For Idiots" guide to Enlightment. On the way, Amanda contends with a boyfriend who doesn't call back, an unplanned pregnancy, and trendy gurus who don't quite "get it." This book is somewhere between "Sex and City" and Eat, Pray, Love." As a woman in my twenties trying to figure out dating, money, and career issues, I appreciated a protaganist who I could relate to. I also appreciated that Amanda, like most of us, is searching for that often elusive "inner peace" and "meaning" in life. In the name of full disclosure, I work for this writer-- and I wanted to work with Anne because she's such a talented writer who I am learning a lot from. This book is entertaining and enlightening. Could be a great choice for your book club!
