new moon & eclipse

ok here we go! over christmas break, during the 2 days we had NO CLIENTS HERE (a moment of silence please for how fantastic that was) i had the chance to read the rest of the series. it was great! ok so here are my two cents, for anyone who cares (if you haven't read this series but plan to, don't read on):

1) even though edward is beautiful & perfect & everything else
2) i would pick JACOB!!!

i like a man with a dark, tormented side. that is why i married ben (ha ha!). not that edward doesn't have that but he's just TOOOOO perfect for me. and in the end, i think bella would get tired of it. and then it would be too late, she would be a vampire, and she would have to spend eternity with him. i just am not a hopeless romantic and i would get tired of all those smoochies and perfect compliments and that is all i have to say about that.

so there you go. i am on team jacob. loved the books, can't wait for the movie, can't wait for the 4th book.

***for all you doubters out there, i was one too! read the series!

PS-andrea, could you send lauren another invite to the book club blog? she thinks you hate her. that is a joke, but if you could send another invite, i have no idea how to do it so i told her i'd let you know. thanks muchly!

HOORAY!!! It is about time someone else joined Team Jacob! Welcome! He has had my vote from the start and my opinion only grew stronger as the story progressed. There are a couple of key things in book 3 that locked me in as captain of Team Jacob and let me tell you what they are (but first, I'm sorry that I don't have the book in front of me so I can't give exact quotes or page references!):

1 - There is a part where Jacob is telling Bella that he understands why she won't pick him and he says something like "Edward is like a drug to you." This is so very true. Even though it's obvious that he's not as good for her as Jacob (he can't give her a normal life or a family) he's like the air to her. He's an addiction and we all know addictions are never healthy.
2 - I believe she says (or maybe Jacob says it) that Jacob is like the sunshine to her. This is an excellent metaphor because it's so true! He uplifts her and brings her happiness when nothing else can.
3 - She doesn't go into withdrawal when she's not with Jacob. She can be her own person. You know you've crossed the "messed-up-co-dependence" line when your boyfriend goes out of town and you become a total zombie for months on end! Again, NOT HEALTHY!
4 - I've been in a relationship just the TINIEST bit like Edward and Bella's - totally smokin' but such a drag! The guy was so serious all the time and we just didn't have fun or laugh. About 6 months into the relationship I spent time with a guy-friend of mine and it felt like a breath of fresh air! That was when I knew it was time to break it off. Edward is totally dragging Bella down and the only reason why she stays is because he like freaking heroine for her - the low coming off of "him" is so devastating that she can't take it. She has to stay high all the time.
5 - Jacob is just nicer. He's got such a good heart and is funny and kind. Edward is brooding and jealous and dark.

So it's heroine vs. sunshine. Go Team Jacob!

I went into the ugly cry when Bella said goodbye to Jacob. I hate to be the Jacob basher but he didn't imprint on her so even if she choose him(which I agree would be best) he would eventually imprint on his real soulmate and then leave Bella high and dry like(forgot his name...the leader of the pack who cut Emily.)So then she would be left heartbroken...no Jacob-no Edward. I think Jacob would have been able to imprint on her and she actually would have been his soulmate if Edward didn't exist in Bella's life.

you're totally right, i forgot about the whole 'imprint thing.' i guess if that comes in to play, then i'd vote edward. but i just love, love jacob! i agree with lauren about the addiction thing though. to be that much of a mess when the love of your life leaves you that you feel like your insides are going to fall out & you commit dangerous acts just to hear his voice. not a good thing.

ps-lauren, are you talking about the next president of the united states? come on, he wasn't a drag! best of luck to his wife. :)
